Book Bans: Take Action

There has been a new wave of book banning starting in 2020, specifically targeting books that discuss race, gender, and sexuality. Books with diverse characters and protagonists are an important resource for queer youth and other folks with marginalized identities. Books that discuss gender and sexuality can raise awareness about queer experiences and provide relatable stories that can help queer youth feel more seen. Book bans take away access to valuable literature.

No matter how close you are personally to these book bans, there is a lot you can do. Read the banned books! Get others to read them, help causes working to spread diverse representation in books, and tell others what is going on!
